Destination vs Formation, The Scale and the Story & Rest
Sep 12, 20241)
Truly healthy people are more concerned with their current trajectory (spiritual formation) than their desired result (spiritual destination).
2)
The scale doesn't tell the entire story. Don't forget:
– Pictures of yourself
– Body measurements (i.e. pant size)
– Energy levels
– Overall feeling / mood
– Attitude
– Levels of grace with yourself
Truly healthy people view their progress holistically.
3)
Four truths about rest:
1. Work and rest are compliments. Rest is an essential component of good work. Without it, you’ll burnout. God designed us to rest well.
2. Rest includes both active & passive modalities. Walking & running have a way of clearing the mind and releasing stress. Reading & praying recharges the soul as well.
3. Rest is a skill. Everyone knows how to do it. But with a little work, you can understand it and do it better.
4. Rest stimulates & sustains creativity. Being off sparks being on.
Truly healthy people rest well.
