correct understandings habit #6: cultivate community habit #7: embrace purpose jesus relational health spiritual health Mar 28, 2024

1)

Culture's version of love:

  • a verb
  • an intense feeling or deep affection
  • what you can fall in & out of
  • a race to the "front of the line"
  • something that ultimately satisfies / fulfills / benefits you

True health's version of love:

  • a verb & noun
  • an others-first way of life that creates life-giving relationships
  • a willful act to place the good of another above yourself
  • a race to the "back of the line"
  • something that ultimately satisfies / fulfills / benefits someone else

2)

A common misunderstanding of health

Health is a season, fad, phase or "kick." (i.e. "You're just in a big health kick right now.")

Truth:

Health is about quality of life for the duration of life, not just for one season of life.

3)

"Becoming like Jesus is as much as about having a relaxed and joyful heart as it is about believing and doing the right thing

... as much about proper energy as about proper truth."

– Catholic priest, author & theologian Ronald Rolheiser
