A Practical Means to an End, Being "All In" vs the "All-Or-Nothing" Mindset & Pruning
Dec 14, 20231)
Here’s a fundamental truth we teach at HOLO HLTH:
Health is a means to an end (to love others better).
Example:
What you do in the gym should best prepare you to love others outside the gym (i.e. having the physical capacity to do for others what they cannot do for themselves, like helping a neighbor move furniture).
Which means exercise is a means to an end.
The fitter you are, the more ways you can love & serve others.

There’s a difference between being “all in” and the “all-or-nothing” mindset.
The “all-or-nothing” mindset is exactly that: either or. If it’s not “all” then it’s “nothing.” Or another way to put it, there’s no margin. No grace. No “getting back on the wagon,” because once you’re off the wagon, there’s no getting back on. This starts from a place of good intentions & high motivation, but it’s not sustainable.
Being “all in” is different. The main difference: margin. Your health is a priority, but you have a comfortable buffer to sustain your efforts (like the 80/20 principle regarding nutrition). You’re fully focused on your goals, but you understand the path is not linear.
It’s okay to have 1 “off” day. But don’t let 1 snowball into 2.
3)
Growth requires pruning.
Question: What do you need to prune to catalyze growth?
